This weekend I made truffles, from Eat, Drink, and Be Vegan by Dreena Burton. I really like this new cookbook, especially the clarity of her recipes. I was considering to make the truffle recipe from Get It Ripe!, which is very similar but was having trouble parsing that one. I couldn't figure out from her description when to add the coconut milk to the chocolate messiness. Anyway, Dreena's truffles really are "Unbelievably Rich" and can be found on page 212. I rolled some in walnuts and some in cocoa/powered sugar. Below is a set I gifted a chocoholic friend.

lydia,
i'm sure glad you mentioned this: you're right, there's no indication in the method of when to put in the coconut milk or salt. the sad thing is, it was in my original manuscript, but my editor took it out!
the manuscript (for your clarification) reads:
"Once all the chocolate chunks have melted away into a dreamy liquid, stir in the coconut milk and salt. Make sure you get a uniform mixture."
do try 'em out next time you've got a hankering for truffles.
Thank you for the missing step. I do admire your cookbook, especially the emphasis on local, ripe foods. I will tackle your version next. Sorry to be so gushy.
no need to apologize for anything! i apologize that the method isn't clearer in the book.
and you know the funny thing? dreena and i had the same editor for both our books. fancy that.
